Paradox

Recently, I took a personality assessment that described my preferences for various situations and filtered the results through a few different paradoxes. For instance, they compared my analytical skills and my intuition. While it seems like those would be opposite qualities, they are powerful when they can work in combination without leaning too far into one quality or the other. All analytical and no intuition might cause me to work very slowly and sometimes miss the big picture. In contrast, all intuition and no analytical could keep me from making a decision with all the critical data. Being weak in both areas would be a challenge, but the fact that I am strong in both benefits me and the people around me.

Another paradox we considered was empathy and enforcement; I scored high in empathy but not in enforcement. This was not a shock, but it shows me that I should be careful around boundaries because I might rely on my empathy. It is possible that a part of me that believes deep empathy would eliminate my enforcement of boundaries. My growth edge will be considering how that plays out in different areas of my life.

It has been something I have pondered and discussed with others, hoping that this will help me move in a positive direction. If you would like a thinking partner to consider some of the paradoxes in your life, please Contact Us.
