Trust is Fast

A month ago, I probably would have told you that trust is slow. If I met with a group of people, joy would be fast and easy to talk about, but trust would be a slow and lengthy process. That might be true, but everything happens faster once a team has established trust. If I am buying something from someone I trust, the transaction is quick and easy; if I am buying something from a person I am skeptical of, the process will include many questions and some inspection and diligence throughout all of it. Trust helps things happen quickly.

Trust can be lost quickly, as well. I heard a local leader say that trust is gained in drops and lost in buckets. Establishing trust will take a long time, but it can all be wiped out in a moment through one poor decision. You can’t force trust, but there are ways that you can build trust over time, and it is worth the effort to increase speed, efficiency, and joy.
